The Position: We are looking for a Per-Diem Foster Care Social Worker, who is willing to embrace McKinley's mission and H.U.M.A.N values. The Foster Care Social Worker is responsible for ensuring safety and welfare of children, youth, and Non-Minor Dependents on their caseload. They are a resource to their caseload, providing treatment assessment and planning. They support those they serve while providing support and monitoring of Resource Families.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we're offering is $31.00- $35.00 hourly depending (Based) on experience.

Qualifications:

Master's degree or higher from an accredited or state approved graduate school that includes, but is not limited to, social work or social welfare, marriage, family, and child counseling, child psychology, child development, counseling psychology or social psychology, clinical psychology, educational psychology, education with an emphasis on counseling, or an area that qualifies for licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
In addition to the degree specifications listed above all of the following coursework and field practice or experience shall be required of all new hires effective January 1, 1993: (A) At least three semester units of field practice at the master's degree level, or six months' full-time equivalent experience in a public or private social service agency setting. (B) At least nine semester units of coursework related to children and families, or, within the first year of employment, experience in working with children and families as a major responsibility of the position under the supervision of a supervising social worker. (C) At least three semester units in working with minority populations; six months of experience in working with minority populations; or training in cultural competency and working with minority populations within the first six months of employment as a condition of employment. (D) At least three semester units in child welfare, or at least six months of experience in a public or private child welfare social services setting.
Bilingual ability in Spanish strongly preferred

Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
Ability to commute daily and continuously to various sites for prolonged periods of time

Key Responsibilities:

Follow through on commitments to children.
Orient potential certified foster home applicants.
Evaluate and assess applications of potential certified foster family applicants, including doing in-depth home studies as part of the certification process.
Evaluate and assess children for placement including continuity of care and counseling services in a certified home.
Assume the responsibilities of the "Officer of the Day" at least one full day per week.
Develop and update the needs and services plan and assure services are provided.
Supervise placement, including direct contact with the child and the certified foster parent(s) on a regularly scheduled basis meeting agency standards.
Provide consultation and support services to certified foster parents.
Attend school Individualized Educational Program meetings as necessary.
Complete all required documentation related to placement of children in the foster family program.
Complete adoption home studies as assigned.
Conduct a weekly training for prospective foster parents.
Facilitate groups for foster and biological children.
Participate in all events organized by the agency.
Participate in the recruitment of foster parents.
Believe that people can change; demonstrate an ability to set limits and intervene. appropriately to meet the needs of the children and families served.
Investigate and follow-up on allegations or complaints received regarding foster children and/or families.
Interact both verbally and in writing with a variety of county and/or community resources related to potential new and current foster children and families
Use personal vehicles for business purposes and for transportation of clients
Actively participate in the agency's Program Quality Improvement (PQI) plan as assigned.
Other related duties as assigned.
