Job Title: Field Service Technician
Job Summary:
The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing customer service in the field in order to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair commercial and residential HVAC, kitchen, laundry and refrigeration equipment. Delivering exceptional customer service is a requirement.
Job Functions
- Provide the highest level of service to the customer and communicate with the customer regarding the service needed
- Punctuality and attendance are crucial
- Must be able to properly trouble shoot, diagnose and repair the customers equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance service
- Perform installation of equipment
- Fill out work orders completely and legibly
- Communicate with dispatch upon arrival and departure from assignment
- Create estimates and proposals as needed
- Effectively communicate with the following –
- Customers regarding repair
- Dispatch/Office regarding status of service
- Parts Department to order correct parts
- Supervisor or Service Manager on difficult calls
- Manufacturers as needed for help diagnosing problems with equipment
- Collect from customers as needed
- Return to the shop warranty parts as needed
- Maintain company supplied hand tools as well as tools required for the position
- Maintain company vehicle including cleanliness, organizing company inventory, keeping it fueled and ensure regular maintenance for the vehicle
- Must be able to use personal computers and operate company software and parts lookups
- Participate in continuing education – industry certification training is available and will be expected to complete and pass as required by the company
- Obtain additional licenses and certification as appropriate
- Other duties as needed
- Must be available for emergency calls and weekend service schedules. On call service schedules are for one week at a time
- Other duties and responsibilities as needed to meet the needs of the organization
Physical Demands:
- This job requires walking, standing, driving, sitting, squatting, kneeling, reaching overhead, twisting and turning for the schedules day
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and lift and carry 75 pounds
- May be required to push a load across the floor of 150 pounds or more
- Must be able to use hand for fine manipulation of hand tools
- Must be able to drive a vehicle for long distances/periods
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Must have experience in appliance, HVAC or refrigeration repair
- Must have EPA certification (Universal)
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be insurable by our auto insurance company
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- Must be safety conscious during service calls and while driving the company vehicle
- Able to work individually or as a team member with customers, co-workers and factory personnel
- Job requires excellent organizational skills, must be a motivated, self-starter, able to follow through on duties and assignments with minimal or no supervision
- Able to concentrate, handle pressure, meet deadlines and pay attention to details
- Willing to train the right candidate**
