Busy Los Angeles Labor & Employment law firm is currently seeking a Spanish speaking Legal Assistant for immediate hire. This is a full time in person position. (This is not a remote or hyrid role) You will be joining a law firm with a friendly office environment and plenty of opportunities for growth. You will communicate with clients and prospective clients, so personal and professional discretion are a must. The ideal candidate must be able to organize work; proofread, think critically, and manage their time well; maintain meticulous attention to detail; maintain confidentiality; prioritize and multi-task; communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; and work both collaboratively and independently and in a team environment. The right candidate must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a law firm setting, and possess a bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal training/certificate. Experience with employment law is preferred, but not required.
Job Duties Include:
- Assist in preparing a variety of litigation documents, such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and other related documents
- Assist in filing legal documents with state, federal, and appellate courts, and serve documents on all parties
- Assist in initiating arbitration demands and serve documents
- Assist in preparing and serving discovery related documents
- Maintain docket, calendars, and response dates for assigned attorneys.
- Schedule and coordinate court hearings, appearances, depositions, mediations, and other legal proceedings with court reporters, witnesses, outside counsel, opposing counsel and other parties.
Required Knowledge of: Microsoft Suite, Dropbox, Docusign, and time and billing software. Basic legal terminology, forms, formats, procedures, documents, and office operations and practices; the court system and court rules; litigation procedures; proper format of legal citations; principles of indexing and maintaining legal case and administrative files; English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation and business letter writing; and current office procedures.
Salary will commensurate between $22 - $35 per hour BOE. We offer a Competitive Compensation Package including Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick days, and year end discretionary bonuses.
