Retail Manager – Renaissance Faire Booths
Location: Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area (Irwindale, CA)

Duration: [Event Dates: weekends from April 4 - May 18 + Pre/Post Setup Days], approx March (early) to May (end)
Job Description:
Are you an experienced retail manager who loves dynamic event environments? We are looking for a Retail Manager to oversee the setup, staffing, and daily operations of two booths at a Renaissance Faire. Our products range from crafts and unique gifts. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires retail expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced festival setting.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
✅ Booth setup & breakdown
✅ Hiring and managing staff (via the job fair)
✅ Inventory control & sales tracking
✅ Ensuring a smooth, high-energy customer experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Booth Setup & Preparation: coordinate logistics for setup of various vendors, booth construction and decoration and product stocking, coordination of all Administrative documentation.
- Recruit and hire (from Job Fair), and train booth staff, ensuring they understand sales techniques, customer service, and event protocols.
- Develop and manage a work schedule to ensure adequate coverage throughout the event.
- Handle staff communication and ensure all team members understand their roles and expectations.
- Organize merchandise, manage storage of inventory, coordinate restocking logistics and plan for inventory replenishments as needed.
- Oversee daily operations at both booths, supervise staff performance, provide support, and resolve any issues that arise. Ensure all staff adhere to event rules, health and safety guidelines, and Renaissance Faire theme expectations.
- Monitor and optimize booth setup for maximum sales and foot traffic engagement. Train and encourage staff to deliver excellent customer service and drive sales. Handle escalated customer inquiries or concerns.
- Manage the point-of-sale (POS) system and ensure proper handling of cash and credit transactions. Track daily sales and ensure accurate record-keeping. Address any discrepancies in sales or inventory.
- Coordinate the breakdown, packing, and transportation of booth materials. Oversee the return of rented or borrowed equipment. Conduct a final inventory count and report on remaining stock.
- Compile and analyze sales reports, identifying trends and insights. Provide a financial recap, including revenue, expenses, and profit margins. Assess staff performance and provide recommendations for future events.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in retail management, event operations, or festival vending.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Familiarity with POS systems & cash handling.
Ability to work long hours, including weekends, in an outdoor setting.
Physically able to lift, transport, and set up materials as needed.
