Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Legal Practice Assistant at Carpenter & Zuckerman. The primary responsibility of the Legal Practice Assistant is to provide varied administrative support, with moderate supervision, to designated attorneys.

Qualifications

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establish effective working relationships throughout operational groups
Strong command of the English language including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form, and style
Excellent organizational and calendaring management skills
Ability to compose correspondence
Experience in a legal or professional services setting is a plus
Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field

Responsibilities

Maintain attorneys’ calendars of trials, depositions, meetings, appointments, hearings, events, and business trips, using current software applications, and apprise them of responsibilities in advance of commitment
File paper and electronic documents with appropriate courts and ensure proper procedures are followed and deadlines are met
Coordinate client/attorney/administrative conferences, depositions, meetings, and appointments for attorneys, including scheduling, preparation of materials, and arrangement with a third-party if needed (e.g., court reporter/videographer)
Create, edit, revise, redline, and/or proofread standard documents
Coordinate travel arrangements, securing air, hotel, and car plans for attorneys
Maintain file organization
Conduct Internet research as directed by attorneys
Occasionally assist attorneys with personal work requests
Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the position, arrive at work on time, and use time wisely during the workday

The firm also a 401(k) plan which includes an employer match available after a vesting period. The firm offers ten (10) paid holidays and four (4) half day holidays. Employees have 80 hours of sick leave each calendar year and accrue vacation at a rate of 3.36 hours per pay-period.
