Under the direction of the Manager/Supervisor/Lead Person, the Mechanic A maintains, repairs equipment and helps develop solutions. Also, responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced.

- Maintain and repair production equipment as follows:
- Blenders
- Fillers
- Cobots
- Cappers
- Induction Sealers
- Film Sleevers
- Steam/Infrared Shrink Tunnels
- Labelers
- Printers (Lot Code/Case label)
- Packaging Equipment
- Cartoners
- Case Packers
- Automatic Palletizers
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production line and facility equipment
- Perform predictive and preventive maintenance routines on all equipment
- Perform all manufacturing and facility equipment PM's as required
- Perform manufacturing and facility repairs
- Assist with other areas of plant maintenance as needed
- Perform manufacturing equipment change overs
- Ability to use all basic hand tools applicable to the position
- Follow all code and regulatory requirements
- Complete documents as required by department guidelines
- Machining of parts using a lathe, mill, grinders, etc.
- Practice and follow safety requirements
- Comply with all SOP's and GMP's
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Must have working Knowledge of the following trades:
- Metal Fabrication
- Machining,
- Welding (S/S, preferred Sanitary welds) - Arc, Heli-Arc, Plasma
- Strong electrical and instrumentation skills (Electrical/Control/ PLC)
- Mechanical
- HVAC/Refrigeration
- Packaging
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair pumps - both centrifugal and positive displacement
- Ability to troubleshoot systems through reading schematics
- Ability to multi-task and efficiently handle multiple priorities
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Skilled in electrical construction
- Skilled in the use of electronic testing equipment with the ability to simulate bench testing procedures
- Experience with utility-related equipment boilers, water systems, air compressors, HVAC
- Experience with automated and high-speed packaging equipment
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems
- Experience with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and other computer applications
- Knowledge of AC/DC drives and related electrical controls
- Assist with the installation of new equipment or layouts
- Assist with the operation of production line equipment
- Maintain proper housekeeping in all areas and follow good manufacturing practices
- Must be able to participate in emergency response team (able to wear SCBA and respirator)
- All other duties as assigned by management
- Must supply own tools
Required Education/Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Courses from a junior college or technical institute, job-related seminars, or ongoing education
- Trade school certification or Associate degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years of maintenance mechanic manufacturing experience in food processing including heavy equipment repair
- Effective written communication skills, including legibility.
- Must have basic math skills
- Strong attention to detail

- Understanding and if applicable, handling hazardous material and waste using proper and safe techniques
- As necessary, performs other related functions of which the above are representative

- Good hand and eye coordination.
- Medium to heavy physical effort required for a variety of physical activities to include walking, standing, squatting, and lifting.
- Must have good hand coordination to use hand tools and other devices.

Unusual Hazards:
Work priorities are subject to change and interruptions, which can produce stress and mental fatigue.
At times work will be conducted in high noise area and around electricity and high voltage. Work will also be conducted in high places, including ladders, lifts, and platforms. Sometimes work is performed in awkward positions around moving machinery.
