Position Objective:

The maintenance mechanic will be responsible for maintaining all production equipment within a food manufacturing facility.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform general maintenance of production areas, equipment, buildings, common areas, and facility grounds.
Replace electrical components, variable frequency drives, transformers, motors, wiring, bearings, shafts, belting, bushings, and manufactured parts.
Maintain manufacturing facility equipment, including compressors, boilers, and lighting.
Document all repairs in the work order system, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production line and facility equipment.
Perform and document preventive maintenance routines on all equipment.
Assist with the design and installation of new equipment or layouts.
Maintain and assemble/disassemble equipment using safe and sanitary practices.
Identify opportunities to improve processes through a continuous improvement mindset.
Communicate effectively with other departments, management, and employees about production issues.
Respond to emergency repair situations promptly.
Read and interpret technical procedures, schematics, service manuals, and work orders.
Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment to perform duties.
Follow safe work practices, including lockout-tagout, PPE requirements, confined space safety, chemical handling, and fall restraints.
Inspect, repair, and overhaul mechanical drives, pneumatic and hydraulic components, motor control centers, transport conveyor systems, and rotating equipment.
Perform machine shop duties, including metal fabrication and machining.
Prioritize repair and maintenance tasks to ensure smooth workflow in the manufacturing plant.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws related to plant and equipment maintenance.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.

Job Qualifications/Skills:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
4+ years of experience as a maintenance mechanic within a food manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of electronic, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and vacuum systems in industrial equipment.
Understanding of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and inspection techniques.
Proficiency with tools, machines, and testing instruments used in repair and maintenance.
Welding skills are a plus.
Ability to read and use manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Strong time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
