Position Summary: A large retail corporation is seeking a Tax Manager/Senior Manager with strong expertise in tax planning, compliance, and reporting to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing tax obligations across federal, state, and local levels, ensuring tax strategies are optimized to minimize liabilities while maintaining compliance with evolving tax regulations. You will collaborate with internal teams, external auditors, and senior leadership to provide insights on complex tax matters and implement improvements to streamline tax processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the company’s tax compliance processes, ensuring adherence to all relevant tax laws.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies aimed at reducing liabilities and maximizing benefits.
- Prepare and review tax returns, including income, sales, property, and other taxes.
- Ensure the timely and accurate filing of all tax-related documents and returns.
- Oversee tax provision calculations and ensure proper reporting of tax liabilities in financial statements.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during audits and other compliance activities.
- Stay updated on changes in tax regulations and provide recommendations to leadership regarding tax strategies and planning opportunities.
- Advise cross-functional teams on tax-related aspects of business transactions and strategic initiatives.
- Lead and mentor junior tax professionals, fostering their development and guiding them on technical tax issues.
- Manage relationships with tax authorities and address any inquiries or issues that arise.
- Contribute to specialized tax projects, such as transfer pricing and international tax matters.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies in all tax-related activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or Master’s in Taxation preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in tax compliance and planning, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Experience managing tax audits and working with tax authorities.
- Proficiency with tax software and financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with experience interacting with senior management.
- Familiarity with international tax and transfer pricing is a plus.
