Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our Accounting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial activities of the organization, managing Accounting personnel, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of the department. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in supporting the CFO in financial reporting, cost accounting, cost/budget control, annual budgeting, quarterly/annual financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and high level financial analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors. Reports include but are not limited to the following:
- Quarterly and Annual Sales Tax Report
- Annual 571 Property Tax Return
- Annual SOI Filing
- Annual Form 1099 Filing
- Annual Income Tax Return
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements while ensuring accuracy and timely reporting to stakeholders.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Conduct high-level financial analysis, providing insights into key financial trends, performance metrics, and variance analysis to guide decision-making at the executive level.
- Continuously assess accounting processes and identify opportunities for automation and improvement to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with the CFO on the budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to create realistic financial projections, track performance on a monthly & quarterly basis, and update forecasts based on actual results.
- Monitor and analyze budget variances, providing insights and recommendations.
- Assist in financial forecasting and planning activities.
- Cost Accounting
- Build out cost allocation in ERP, including inventory valuation, absorption, manufacturing and product costing. Analyze cost variances and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
- Oversee and manage the ERP system to ensure accurate and efficient integration of financial data across departments, continuously improving system processes and reporting capabilities.
- Internal Controls, Compliance and Risk Management:
- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to minimize financial risks.
- Coordinate and participate in audits, addressing any findings or discrepancies.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Oversee the AP/AR functions and ensure the team is processing invoices, payments, and receipts according to net terms.
- Manage relationships with vendors and clients to resolve billing and payment issues.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor a team of accountants. AP/AR and clerks to building an value-added accounting team, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and efficient execution of financial tasks.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment tied to driving performance results within the department.
Requirements:
Qualifications & Technical Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Public accounting firm experience is preferred. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience with 8+ years in accounting or finance roles, with 5+ years in a managerial role.
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and practices.
- Proficient in cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Experience in implementing or optimizing ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) for finance/accounting functions.
- Familiarity with financial analysis tools and techniques to support decision-making.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
- Proven ability to manage and mentor a team, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple companies simultaneously.
- Experience is implementation of cost centers, BOM, and variance analysis.
- Chinese (Mandarin) Bilingual required.
