The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

We are seeking an intern with a passion for design and empowering others to excel. Ideal candidates will be creative, possess graphic design skills, excel in written communication, and have strong attention to detail in researching the organizational structure of prospective companies.

Internship Overview:
- Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
- Internship Duration: 5/19/25-8/22/25
- Remote Position in Eastern time zone
- Salary: $23.00 per hour
Internship Outcomes:
Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:

- Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.
Responsibilities
Tasks could include things like the following:
Content Library Management & Design
- Assist with indexing, updating, and organizing materials on internal SharePoint site and external supporter website.
- Creation of presentations, one-pagers, and supplemental materials for internal and external needs.
- Create and manage supporter case studies, including connecting with internal staff to gain relevant information.
Case Study Creation
- Collect information related to existing campaigns from the American Heart Association market staff and supporters to develop and create compelling recaps highlighting successes and challenges.
- Design one to two page compelling briefs (context, photos, images, graphics, etc.)
Corporate Briefs
- Research and compile corporate briefs for targeted companies including corporate structure, Executive profiles & mapping, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) focus, previous & existing support, Association engagement history, etc.
Industry Research
- Conduct weekly industry research on supporters and relevant nonprofit trends.
- Grocery, C-Stores, Auto dealers, larger retailers
Meeting & Events Support
- Oversee agendas and resource development for internal and external meetings.
- Join Corporate Relations Directors on select external meetings to note take and assist with meeting next steps (if proximity allows for it.
- Assist with pertinent events including management of the invite lists, invitation design, special event planning, RSVP tracking, follow up communications, etc.
Team Projects
- Work with project coordinator to track campaign materials spend against budget.
- Work with project coordinator to create and manage library for contract intake forms and track accordingly.
Qualifications
- Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree inBusiness, Marketing, Management, Graphic Design and Business majors preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of Canva. Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Creating visually appealing presentations using Canva and PowerPoint.
- Sourcing and compiling case studies to support our projects.
- Enhancing existing presentation materials to improve their overall quality and impact.
- Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated excellence in written communications skills.
- Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
- Ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs from inception through completion.
- Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
- Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection
- Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
