Position Summary:
The Strategic Account Manager – Medical Device Industry will be responsible for driving new business and expanding existing accounts by leveraging Fathom's industry-leading manufacturing services. This role requires deep expertise in selling to the medical device industry, including a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, precision manufacturing standards, and the unique needs of medical OEMs and contract manufacturers.
A successful candidate will take a consultative approach, leveraging business acumen and industry insights to build long-term relationships with medical device OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and contract manufacturers. This individual will proactively manage an industry territory, engaging in face-to-face client meetings, prospecting, and account growth strategies to maximize revenue opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:- Medical Device Industry Business Development: Develop and execute strategies to identify, engage, and close new business opportunities within the medical device industry, targeting OEMs, contract manufacturers, and Tier 1 suppliers.
- Regulatory & Compliance Awareness: Understand and communicate the impact of ISO 13485, FDA regulations, and other medical device manufacturing standards on production and supply chain requirements.
- Technical Sales & Consultative Approach: Effectively articulate the value of precision manufacturing services for medical devices, including CNC machining, injection molding, composite layups, cleanroom assembly, and additive manufacturing.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Successfully interact with key decision-makers, including design engineers, regulatory teams, procurement managers, and manufacturing leaders, ensuring alignment with customer needs.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term relationships with key medical device accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction, compliance, and account growth.
- Revenue & Growth Objectives: Meet and exceed sales targets through direct selling of the company’s manufacturing solutions and fostering strategic partnerships.
- Strategic Industry Management: Proactively manage a defined territory, ensuring consistent engagement through in-person meetings, industry networking, and leveraging customer referrals.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with internal teams to optimize sales strategies, refine messaging for the medical device market, and enhance overall sales processes.
Preferred Qualifications:- Manufacturing background with 5 years of outside sales experience
- Proven experience in sales of manufacturing services to the medical device industry (CNC machining, injection molding, composite layups, cleanroom manufacturing, etc.).
- Strong understanding of medical device regulations (ISO 13485, FDA compliance) and how they impact manufacturing processes.
- Experience engaging with engineers, procurement teams, regulatory professionals, and supply chain leaders at medical device OEMs and suppliers.
- Track record of hitting or exceeding revenue targets through consultative selling and strategic account growth.
- Ability to work independently and drive business development efforts with minimal oversight.
- Successful track record and comfortable with complex, consultative engagements advocating for adoption and driving utilization of a new technology.
- Exceptional interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills including technical.
- Professional, patient, and exceptional listener when interacting with customers and partners.

Travel Requirements: Ability to travel 50% of the time to attend off site customer visits and meetings within the assigned geographical region.
