Duties/Responsibilities:
- Reads and s architectural or workshop drawings and select the correct materials then manufacture the required item using an array of workshop equipment such as a CNC folder, guillotine, slitter, pan brake as well as general trade hand tools snips, hammers, tape-measure, scribers, squares, etc
- develops additional sketches if needed.
- selecting metal stock, such as stainless steel, galvalume, Colorbond or, aluminium and checking sizes, gauges and other dimensions of metal stock against specifications
- marking out metal stock with reference points and lines, using templates, gauges and other measuring instruments.
- shaping and forming cut metal stock into products using folding and bending machines, rollers, presses and hammers.
- Uses appropriate machinery and software applications to complete assigned jobs.
- Checking work for accuracy using calipers and micrometers
- Coordinates required shutdowns and startups of equipment with other departments after sheet metal fabrication
- Develops and maintains records for projects and repairs.
- Maintains clean and orderly workspace.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision.
- Ability to safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics to understand product assignment.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of an apprenticeship or a three-year, in-company training program required.
- Certification preferred.
- Experience in the operation of CNC sheet metal folding equipment will be highly regarded
- Experience working in a general sheet metal fabrication shop either structural or automotive
- Forklift certification
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods lifting, reaching, and working on scaffolding and overhead structures.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
