Job Summary:

A Legal Assistant/Office Manager

Responsibilities

Detail-oriented and a self-starter with strong organizational skills and a high work ethic;
Working knowledge of State and Federal Court procedures, including calendaring/docketing;
Working knowledge of filing documents electronically via Pacer;
Working knowledge in legal docketing software;
Working knowledge and understanding of local jurisdictional and Federal Court rules and procedures;
Manage, monitor, and update case/court deadlines on the firm's electronic calendar;
Experience creating shells/templates for pleadings/discovery;
Ability to take initiative and work independently;
Flexibility and willingness to adapt and accomplish projects in an efficient and timely manner;
Research laws and cases as needed;
Ability to perform file operations and maintenance, including file storage, maintenance, interfiling, consolidations, and audits;
Manage phone calls, correspondence (email, letters, packages, etc.), and

Skills and Abilities

Computer literacy and proficiency;
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and legal software systems;
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; and
Excellent organizational skills.

Experience

California litigation experience is a plus;
Insurance defense experience is a plus;
Proven relevant experience as a legal assistant at a litigation law firm;
Minimum of 2-4 years of employment in a law firm
