Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC systems, mechanical repairs, and refrigeration processes. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards. The Refrigeration Technician will work on various projects, including ammonia refrigeration systems and other cooling equipment.
Duties
- Preventative maintenance: Regularly inspecting and servicing refrigeration units, including cleaning condenser coils, checking refrigerant levels, lubricating components, and replacing filters.
- Troubleshooting and repair: Diagnosing malfunctions in refrigeration systems, identifying faulty components, and performing repairs such as replacing compressors, evaporator coils, or control boards.
- Emergency response: Responding to urgent calls regarding refrigeration issues outside of regular working hours, including after-hours and weekends.
- Compliance with regulations: Adhering to local and federal safety standards regarding refrigerants, proper handling procedures, and documentation.
- Parts ordering and inventory management: Identifying necessary replacement parts and ensuring proper stock levels.
- Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of service calls, repairs performed, and parts used
Skills
- Technical knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of refrigeration systems, including components like compressors, condensers, evaporators, and control circuits.
- Electrical knowledge: Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring related to refrigeration units. Proficient with electrical/electronic controls.
- EPA certification: Valid EPA Section 608 certification to handle refrigerants/ EPA Universal Certifications preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude: Strong hands-on skills for disassembling, repairing, and reassembling refrigeration equipment
- Problem-solving skills: Ability to diagnose complex issues and develop effective solutions
- Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours and be willing to be on call.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52.00 - $67.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
