A small fast paced Woodland Hills law firm is seeking a full time litigation assistant with at least 3-5 years with federal civil procedure experience.
As a litigation assistant, you will provide support to attorneys in all phases of litigation including:
· Organizing and maintaining case files, documents, and correspondence; organizing and handling outgoing and incoming mail, and scanning documents into the firm's database
· Updating and maintaining the firm's calendar, scheduling meetings, appointments, depositions, court reporters, and other legal proceedings
· Formatting documents for filing in State and/or Federal Courts including preparation and E-file legal documents (State, Federal, Appellate).
· Reserving court hearings, scheduling remote appearances.
· Preparing/drafting legal correspondence with clients, experts, and opposing counsel
· Preparing discovery shells and other pleadings
· Reviewing, editing and proofreading documents, assisting in redlining and tracking document changes/revisions
· Assisting in document production including Bates labeling, redacting, organizing exhibits
· Preparing check requests and expense reports.
· Handling client initial intake/sign up
· Obtaining relevant information and documents for case build-up
· Communicating with other law offices and government offices
· Proofreading and filing Complaints, Summons, Motions, Ex-Parte Applications, Notices, Minor's Compromise and other legal documents
· Preparing responses to written discovery (Form and Special Interrogatories, Request for Production, Request for Admission)
· Propounding discovery to opposing parties
· Preparing and serving meet and confer letters, expert designations, etc.
· Preparing, schedule and served subpoenas.
· Scheduling meetings, appointments and depositions.
· Reserving court hearing dates, retrieving documents, and schedule remote court appearances.
· Preparing trial documents such as: Joint Statement of the Case, Joint Exhibit List, Joint Witness List, Jury Instructions, Motions in Limine and Trial Binders.
As a legal assistant, you must be highly organized, detail oriented and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Recent Law School graduates welcome.
