Please read position carefully as we are looking for the right team member to join the family. We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our growing finance team. Location
Our office is in downtown Los Angeles. you can expect to meet at the office between 1-2 times per week. We have many locations throughout Southern California, you may not necessary need to be at the locations. However, if the need came about then you would need to be there. This job is an in person job and we want a local, however as you become more and more knowledgeable, you will be able to work remotely and maybe come into the office only once per week. We do value face time and to build familiarity, however we also know that it doesn't need to be every day or even every week at times.
Position Overview
The Accounting Assistant will support the accounting department with day-to-day operations, including data entry, document processing, and basic bookkeeping tasks. This is not a typical accounting role, as the tasks will vary at times and may not be very routine. You will need to be a self motivated person who loves to work with numbers and figure things out. This role will work directly to the Senior Accountant staff as well as collaboratively with the entire finance team.
You will need to savvy and intelligent as you will also contact entities such as the IRS, or the financial department for Medi-cal or Medicare or other governmental agencies. The job will really vary, and although you will have a very supportive team, and you will need to be a person who can figure things out without needing your hand held.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle many various one off tasks within our accounting system.
- Help organize and improve our accounting and financial process
- Improve our account payable and receivable operations
- Assist with monthly bank reconciliations
- Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems
- Enter financial data into accounting software with high accuracy
- Help prepare basic financial reports and spreadsheets
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Assist with audit preparation by gathering required documents for audits or tax preparation
- Respond to basic vendor and internal department inquiries
- Process expense reports and employee reimbursements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Associate's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- 0-2 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with financial information
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks online)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Basic understanding of GAAP
- Prior experience in an office environment
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $29.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
